Florida TaxWatch: Data Centers and Florida’s Tax Base: Balancing Fiscal Opportunity, Responsible Development, and Taxpayer Protection
The Florida TaxWatch report analyzes the financial and infrastructural impacts of constructing large-scale artificial intelligence hyperscale data centers in Florida's smaller, fiscally constrained counties. The study indicates that while a single 500-megawatt facility can generate over $1 billion in local tax revenue and substantially boost property taxes, it also introduces significant electricity and water demands that require careful local planning and taxpayer protections.
